About the Business

All Makes Vac & Sew has been in business here in Torrance, CA., in the same location since 1966. Our store was started by my father-in-law (Gene Marten) as a Kirby distributor. He quickly developed the store into one of the more successful vacuum shops here in the southern Los Angeles area. In the early 1970's he realized that he needed to expand the shop to sell more than just one brand of vacuum cleaner. We now sell and repair over 30 brands of vacuum cleaners, air purifiers, and sewing machines. We are also one of the very few licensed contractors for the installation of central vacuum systems here in the Los Angeles area. My wife and I bought the business from Gene in 1987. We pride ourselves in the fact that we are a 'mom-and-pop' kind of company with a couple of employees. Our store has been selected five times out of the last seven years in a row for the prestigious Best of the South Bay award, and we have been featured in two episodes of Extreme Makeover - The Home Edition.
